The Mini Primer

Priming & Prep

What to handle before any color touches the model. Prep means cleaning the faint mold lines off the figure, washing off the factory release agent so paint will actually stick, gluing any parts together, and mounting the mini on a handle or cork so you are not smudging it while you paint. Then comes priming: a thin undercoat that gives your paint something to grip and stops it beading off bare plastic or metal. These guides compare brush-on, spray, and airbrush primer, and help you choose a black, grey, white, or zenithal undercoat depending on how bright or moody you want the result.
